SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Francis Joseph Geraghty of Beach Park, who passed away on May 2, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty was born on April 18, 1934, in Lake Forest; he married his high school sweetheart, Emma Roberts; and

WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty was baptized Catholic at St. Mary's Church in Lake Forest and attended Lake Forest High School; in high school, he worked as a service station attendant before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, After his stint in the military, Francis Geraghty purchased a Bulko station on Grand Avenue in Waukegan and another in Wheeling; he subsequently changed direction and became the proprietor of what became known as Mickey's Michigan Inn in Waukegan; following his retirement, he worked part time at Bonnie Brook Golf Course; and

WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty was born and raised on Lake Michigan and spent his youth swimming and skating; he later became an avid boatman for many years, being a member of the Kenosha Yacht Club and Trident Marina; and

WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty was preceded in death by his parents, Francis P. and Catherine Geraghty; his wife, Emma Jean; his dear son and daughter, William Raymond Geraghty and Diana Sue Geraghty; his granddaughter, Sissy Alice Geraghty; and his sister, Kay Glynn; and

WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty is survived by his wife, Ann Marie; his daughter, Deborah Ann Savage (Shawn); his son, Francis Joseph Geraghty III (Susan); his grandchildren, Emily Jean Geraghty, Rowdy John (Natalie) Geraghty, Meghan (Dan) Carlson, Christopher (Katrin) Savage, Andrew Savage (fiancee, Kelsey Mitchell), and Justin and Alison Calhoun; his great-grandchildren, Emma, Nicholas, and Alexander Carlson and Matthew and Benjamin Savage; his sister, Sue Anne Tewes; his brother, William P. (Constance) Geraghty; and his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear neighbors; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Francis Joseph Geraghty; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Francis Geraghty as an expression of our sympathy.
