SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jack G. Slaughter Sr. of McHenry, who
4passed away on June 13, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Slaughter Sr. was born on July 29, 1936, in
6Cleburne, Texas, to James and Susan (Fogarty) Slaughter; he
7married Patricia Ann Hurst on January 30, 1960, in Roselle; he
8was a resident of Chicago from 1951 until moving to McHenry in
91963; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jack Slaughter Sr. opened Stuc's Pizza in 1978,
11where he was fondly referred to as "Big Guy"; he owned the
12business until January 1991 when he sold it to his son; he was
13employed by Walmart for 16 years, where he worked in several
14areas from electronics to assembling bicycles; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jack Slaughter Sr. was active in the McHenry Area
16Chamber of Commerce and volunteered his time to plan for the
17annual Fiesta Days events; he was a member of the McHenry
18Rotary Club, serving as president for a time; he was also a
19board member for Home of the Sparrow and was co-organizer of
20Walmart's "Shop with a Cop" Christmas shopping program; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jack Slaughter Sr. was an avid music lover and had

1played guitar since the age of 13; for 30 years, he was the
2guitarist for his band, Two Beers and a Coke, playing many
3weddings and other events in the area; he enjoyed spending time
4at his second home in the Adams-Friendship, Wisconsin, area,
5where he liked to go fishing and spend time with his dogs; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jack Slaughter Sr. is survived by his wife of 53
7years, Patricia; his children, Jack Jr. (Lauri) Slaughter and
8Dawn (Jim Morrison); his grandchildren, Jennifer (fiance Joe
9Nanez), Ryan, Matthew, Emily, Garrett, and Claudia; his
10brother, Gene (Belinda) Slaughter; his sisters, Joanna (Wess)
11Buss and Beverly Burns; his stepbrother, Joe Green; and many
12nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Jack Slaughter Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Jack Slaughter Sr. as an expression
20of our deepest sympathy.
