SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Shirley A. Talkington of Gillespie, who passed away on January 13, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Talkington was born on March 21, 1930 in Gillespie to George A. and Mary (nee Herron) Talkington; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Talkington retired as a clerk from the State of Illinois and was a former bookkeeper with Fassero Pontiac in Gillespie; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Talkington was a member of Croatian Lodge #217, the Macoupin County Democratic Women, and the United Methodist Church of Gillespie and Women's Organization; she was a volunteer at Gillespie Caring Center; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Talkington was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Talkington is survived by her daughter, Shawn (James) Gallo and by her grandchildren, Heather (Dan) Shafer and Jamie (Greg) Gardner; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Shirley A. Talkington, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Shirley Talkington as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
