HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert
4"Robbie" Gorens Jr., who passed away on August 7, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was born to Betty June Cox-Gorens
6and Robert Gorens Sr. on August 21, 1959; he grew up attending
7various churches, committing to his faith at an early age from
8his mother's example, and inherited a love of sports from his
9father and uncles; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was a messenger for the Illinois
11House of Representatives for 38 years, retiring in 2020; he
12took pride in his work and always had a positive attitude; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens loved traveling to celebrate family
14reunions and special events with friends and family; he was
15deeply devoted to his daughter and grandchildren, and offering
16them his love and support was his greatest pleasure; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was an enthusiastic fan of the
18Miami Dolphins; he played baseball as a child and softball and
19recreational basketball as an adult; he was best known among
20friends and family for hosting Play Station tournaments; a
21self-sufficient man, he took pride in his cooking, especially

1his famous macaroni and cheese; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was preceded in death by his
3parents and his niece, Kendra Gorens; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens is survived by his daughter, Alexia
5Starr Hamilton; his sisters, Murdee (Bobby) Gorens-Mabery and
6Pamela (Darryl) Gorens; his brother, Todd Gorens; his five
7grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn the passing of Robert "Robbie" Gorens Jr. and extend
11our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
12knew and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Robbie Gorens as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
