HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Robbie" Gorens Jr., who passed away on August 7, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was born to Betty June Cox-Gorens and Robert Gorens Sr. on August 21, 1959; he grew up attending various churches, committing to his faith at an early age from his mother's example, and inherited a love of sports from his father and uncles; and

WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was a messenger for the Illinois House of Representatives for 38 years, retiring in 2020; he took pride in his work and always had a positive attitude; and

WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens loved traveling to celebrate family reunions and special events with friends and family; he was deeply devoted to his daughter and grandchildren, and offering them his love and support was his greatest pleasure; and

WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was an enthusiastic fan of the Miami Dolphins; he played baseball as a child and softball and recreational basketball as an adult; he was best known among friends and family for hosting Play Station tournaments; a self-sufficient man, he took pride in his cooking, especially his famous macaroni and cheese; and

WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Kendra Gorens; and

WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens is survived by his daughter, Alexia Starr Hamilton; his sisters, Murdee (Bobby) Gorens-Mabery and Pamela (Darryl) Gorens; his brother, Todd Gorens; his five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert "Robbie" Gorens Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robbie Gorens as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
