HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Michael Olvera on his
4successful election as business manager of Iron Workers Local
5111, anchored in Illinois' Quad Cities; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The International Association of Bridge,
7Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union
8Local 111 is a proud member of the Illinois AFL-CIO and a trade
9association whose beginnings go back to 1907; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The International Iron Workers Union represents
11120,000 members across North America; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Iron Workers build skillfully, ensuring quality
13bridges, infrastructure improvements, schools, office
14buildings, hospitals, and more are safely erected; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Iron Workers are the "Bridge Builders of
16Illinois" as demonstrated by the improvements to at least 533
17bridges since the beginning of the historic Rebuild Illinois
18Capital Plan; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Iron Workers are doing their part in the
20renewable energy sector to help construct wind turbines, solar

1fields, and hydrogen facilities, helping power Illinois;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we congratulate and thank Iron Workers Local Union 111 for
6their invaluable work on our state's infrastructure; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
9presented to Business Manager Mike Olvera and the Iron Workers
10Local Union 111 Union Hall as an expression of our esteem and
11respect for the daily work iron workers do to make Illinois a
12leading state for world-class infrastructure and emerging
13competitors in renewable energy.
