| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Michael John Gerace, formerly of | 4 | | Downers Grove, who passed away on April 25, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Michael Gerace was born on September 17, 1955, | 6 | | and he was the son of John and Annette (Lupo) Gerace; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Michael Gerace served as a firefighter in the | 8 | | Westchester Fire Department for 30 years; he also worked as a | 9 | | painter for Craftsman Painting and Decorating, and he operated | 10 | | his own carpet cleaning business for many years; after his | 11 | | retirement from the Westchester Fire Department, he worked | 12 | | part-time at Kodiak Controls until he moved to Sun Prairie, | 13 | | Wisconsin; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Michael Gerace was diligent about his daily | 15 | | workouts and enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with | 16 | | his family, especially his three grandchildren; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Michael Gerace was preceded in death by his | 18 | | parents; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Michael Gerace is survived by his wife and best | 20 | | friend, Joan (McCabe) Gerace; his children, Michael |

| 1 | | John-Charles Gerace and Mallorie Lynn (David) Mertz; his | 2 | | grandchildren, Samuel, Josie, and Scarlett Mertz; his | 3 | | siblings, Robert (Pat), Catherine (John) Moore, James (Laura), | 4 | | and Jack (Theresa); his sisters-in-law, Linda (Gerry) Blight | 5 | | and Karen (Chuck) Jorgensen; his nieces, nephews, cousins, and | 6 | | godchildren; and his many friends; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 9 | | Michael John Gerace and extend our sincere
condolences to his | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 13 | | presented to the family of Michael Gerace as an expression of
| 14 | | our deepest sympathy.
