SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Eldon R. "Bob" Abbott of rural
4Smithfield, who passed away on January 26, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Abbott was born to Arthur and Nina (Baughman)
6Abbott in Fulton County on November 28, 1927; he served in the
7U.S. Armed Forces during World War II and the Korean War; he
8married Mary Louise Negley in Smithfield on May 31, 1952; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Abbott was a lifelong farmer, and he sold
10Pioneer seeds for 23 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bob Abbott was a member of the Brock United
12Methodist Church in Smithfield; he was also a member of the
13Fulton County Farm Bureau, Cuba Lodge AF&AM No. 534, the Odd
14Fellows Lodge in Fiatt, the Macomb Prairieland Barbershop
15Chorus, and the Shaw Creek Golf Course in Bushnell; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bob Abbott was preceded in death by his parents
17and one sister; and
 
18    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Bob Abbott was
19survived by his wife; his sons, Marty (Marilyn) Abbott, Bruce
20(Candie) Abbott, David (Carol) Abbott, and Charles (Cindi)

1Abbott; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Eldon R. "Bob" Abbott and extend our sincere condolences to
6his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Bob Abbott as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
