SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth C. "Ken" Etcheson of Canton, who passed away on April 7, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson was born to Raymond and Rosetta (Evans) Etcheson in Bainbridge, Indiana on August 5, 1925; he served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1951, where he was stationed in San Diego, California; he married Rosemarie Dickson in Long Beach, California on March 9, 1946, and she preceded him in death in 2005; he graduated from Wabash College and earned his master's degree in hospital administration from the University of Iowa in 1955; and

WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson worked as hospital administrator and CEO for the Graham Hospital Association from 1959 to 1990, where he was known as "Mr. E."; he was a member of the American College of Hospital Administrators; and

WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson was active in the Rotary Club of Canton and served on the Parlin Ingersoll Library's Board of Trustees in Canton; he was a longtime member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Canton and also attended the First Christian Church of Canton; and

WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson loved spending time outdoors and working in his yard; he enjoyed alpine hiking, skiing, and mountain climbing with his family; and

WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Warren and Gerald; and

WHEREAS, Ken Etcheson is survived by his sibling, Thursa Evens; his children, Steven Etcheson, Craig (Mychelle Balthazard) Etcheson, and Chris (Kimberly) Etcheson; his grandchild, Erin Etcheson; and his companion of many years, Wanda Carmack; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kenneth C. "Ken" Etcheson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ken Etcheson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
