SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Glenna D. Harris of Atwood, who passed away on May 15, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Glenna Harris was born to Gerald Arthur and Margaret E. Hall Butler in Rushville, Indiana on March 12, 1938; she attended Hammond Grade School and graduated from Atwood-Hammond High School in 1956; she graduated from the Burnham School of Nursing in 1959; she married Roger Harris in Hammond on August 8, 1959; and

WHEREAS, Glenna Harris worked as a registered nurse at the medical clinics of Dr. Gordon, Dr. Harry Messmore, and Dr. David Platzbecker for several years; she also worked as bookkeeper and manager of Harris Companies in Atwood; and

WHEREAS, Glenna Harris was a member of United Church of Atwood, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the 16 High Card Club; and

WHEREAS, Glenna Harris enjoyed reading; and

WHEREAS, Glenna Harris was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Glenna Harris is survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Scott (Mary Ellen) Harris, Stan (Jann) Harris, and Sandy (Rick) Fiala; her grandchildren, Beth (Cliff) Hines, Alex Harris, Elyse Harris, Emma Harris, Nicole (Levi) Adwell, Phil (Kelsie) Fiala, and JT (Brianna) Fiala; and her great-grandchildren, Skylar, Bella, Gideon, and Leo; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Glenna D. Harris and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Glenna Harris as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
