| | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
| | 3 | | congratulate the St. Francis High School (SFHS) vocal music | | 4 | | program on achieving first place at the 2023 Illinois High | | 5 | | School Association (IHSA) Class A Vocal Solo & Ensemble | | 6 | | Contest; and
| | 7 | | WHEREAS, The IHSA Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest is a | | 8 | | yearly event for Illinois high school students to vocally | | 9 | | perform as individuals, small ensembles, and smaller choirs; | | 10 | | students prepare for the contest in January and February, and | | 11 | | they then perform their selected pieces before contest judges | | 12 | | at various schools around Illinois on the first Saturday of | | 13 | | March; and
| | 14 | | WHEREAS, The SFHS vocal music program's first place finish | | 15 | | in 2023 marks its fourth consecutive year placing first at the | | 16 | | IHSA Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest; and
| | 17 | | WHEREAS, In 2020, the SFHS vocal music program performed | | 18 | | in person and received the most points in the Class A school | | 19 | | size division, earning them first place in the IHSA Class A | | 20 | | Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest; and
| | 21 | | WHEREAS, In 2021, the SFHS vocal music program performed |

| | 1 | | virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic and received the most | | 2 | | points, placing first again in Class A; and
| | 3 | | WHEREAS, In 2022, the SFHS vocal music program returned to | | 4 | | performing in person and again achieved first place, | | 5 | | completing the threepeat; and
| | 6 | | WHEREAS, This year, the SFHS vocal music program performed | | 7 | | in person, achieving a rare fourpeat through placing first | | 8 | | once again; and
| | 9 | | WHEREAS, The SFHS vocal music program is led by Vocal | | 10 | | Music Director Nina Schroeder and Music Director and Chair of | | 11 | | Performing and Visual Arts Bob Mamminga; therefore, be it
| | 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the | | 14 | | St. Francis High School (SFHS) vocal music program on | | 15 | | achieving first place at the 2023 Illinois High School | | 16 | | Association (IHSA) Class A Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest, | | 17 | | marking its fourth consecutive first place finish; and be it | | 18 | | further
