SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marjorie Nath "Marjie" Ettlinger of Highland Park, who passed away on February 22, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at Indian Trail Elementary School and Elm Place Middle School in Highland Park; and

WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger volunteered for the League of Women Voters for over 50 years; after she retired, she volunteered as an ESL teacher for adults; and

WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger enjoyed the outdoors, devoting her time to supporting environmental causes; she was a lifelong student of the Spanish language; she also appreciated and supported the arts, particularly classical music, theater, and literature; and

WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger will be remembered for her legacy of resilience, activism, and love; and

WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Richard; and

WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger is survived by her daughters, Jan (Stan), Ellen (Jan P.), and Ginny (Jamie); her grandchildren, Sam, Rachel, Guy, Serena, Julie, Zoe, and Avi; and seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marjorie Nath "Marjie" Ettlinger and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marjie Ettlinger as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
