415 ILCS 60/13.6 new

Amends the Illinois Pesticide Act. Requires certified pesticide applicators to give written or email notice 72 hours prior to application of pesticide to schools and parks within half of a mile from the site of application. Provides other notice requirements. Defines terms.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning safety.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Pesticide Act is amended by adding Section 13.6 as follows:

(415 ILCS 60/13.6 new)

Sec. 13.6. Notice prior to application of a pesticide at a park or school. Beginning January 1, 2027, at least 72 hours before applying a pesticide within one-half mile of a school or public park, a certified applicator shall deliver a written notice or email message to the official who is the administrator of the public park or school describing the pesticide that is to be applied. As used in this Section, "public park" includes a park, forest preserve, bikeway, trail, or conservation area under the jurisdiction of the State or a unit of local government.
