SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
415 ILCS 60/13.6 new

    Amends the Illinois Pesticide Act. Requires certified pesticide applicators to give written or email notice 72 hours prior to application of pesticide to schools and parks within half of a mile from the site of application. Provides other notice requirements. Defines terms.

1    AN ACT concerning safety.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Pesticide Act is amended by adding
5Section 13.6 as follows:
 
6    (415 ILCS 60/13.6 new)
7    Sec. 13.6. Notice prior to application of a pesticide at a
8park or school. Beginning January 1, 2027, at least 72 hours
9before applying a pesticide within one-half mile of a school
10or public park, a certified applicator shall deliver a written
11notice or email message to the official who is the
12administrator of the public park or school describing the
13pesticide that is to be applied. As used in this Section,
14"public park" includes a park, forest preserve, bikeway,
15trail, or conservation area under the jurisdiction of the
16State or a unit of local government.
