SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charles G. "Chuck" Bloomberg of
4Springfield, who passed away on January 19, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg was born in Moline to John Arthur
6and Gunhild Ruth (Swanson) Bloomberg on July 21, 1943 and grew
7up in rural Lynn Center; he attended the University of
8Illinois, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho
9fraternity; he married Kathleen Lohman at First Presbyterian
10Church in Springfield on August 30, 1986; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg spent his career in agriculture;
12his roles included Assistant Director of the Illinois
13Department of Agriculture, the first Executive Vice President
14of the Illinois Pork Producers, and head of the Illinois Beef
15Council; in his later years, he loved his vocation as a cattle
16order buyer; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg was proud of his Swedish heritage
18was of the Lutheran faith; he was a staunch supporter of the
19Illini; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg was preceded in death by his
21parents and his sister, Barbara Roark; and

1    WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg is survived by his wife,
2Kathleen; his children, Jon (Sandy Firestone), Brent (DeAnne),
3and Emily Reyes (Tom Birch); his grandchildren, Allison (Alex)
4Lybarger, Carson (Nada) Bloomberg, and Mitchell, Jon, and
5Hannah Reyes; his great-granddaughter, Ava; one great-grandson
6on the way; his sister, Susan (Eugene) Stropes; his in-laws,
7Richard and Christine Jackson; his former wife, Sonja Swanson
8Solberg; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Charles G. "Chuck" Bloomberg and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Chuck Bloomberg as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
