SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles G. "Chuck" Bloomberg of Springfield, who passed away on January 19, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg was born in Moline to John Arthur and Gunhild Ruth (Swanson) Bloomberg on July 21, 1943 and grew up in rural Lynn Center; he attended the University of Illinois, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity; he married Kathleen Lohman at First Presbyterian Church in Springfield on August 30, 1986; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg spent his career in agriculture; his roles included Assistant Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, the first Executive Vice President of the Illinois Pork Producers, and head of the Illinois Beef Council; in his later years, he loved his vocation as a cattle order buyer; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg was proud of his Swedish heritage was of the Lutheran faith; he was a staunch supporter of the Illini; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Roark; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children, Jon (Sandy Firestone), Brent (DeAnne), and Emily Reyes (Tom Birch); his grandchildren, Allison (Alex) Lybarger, Carson (Nada) Bloomberg, and Mitchell, Jon, and Hannah Reyes; his great-granddaughter, Ava; one great-grandson on the way; his sister, Susan (Eugene) Stropes; his in-laws, Richard and Christine Jackson; his former wife, Sonja Swanson Solberg; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles G. "Chuck" Bloomberg and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Chuck Bloomberg as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
