SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Logan "Chuck" Luallen of Aledo, who passed away on August 16, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Logan Luallen was born to Artie and Alice Burress Luallen in Odon, Indiana on May 13, 1928; he attended schools in Odon; after his father's passing in 1940, he and his mother moved to Woodhull, Illinois; he entered the U.S. Army in 1946, and he served in the 63rd Infantry Regiment in the Philippines and Korea; he married Ella Mae Kernan at the Aledo United Methodist Church on December 31, 1949; and

WHEREAS, Logan Luallen worked as a truck driver his entire career; he was employed at Murdock Trucking Co. of Aledo for almost 30 years until the business closed; he was later employed at Adrian Trucking Co. in Milan until he was 65 years old; he continued to drive locally for various farmers for a few more years before finally retiring in 2009 at the age of 81; and

WHEREAS, Logan Luallen will be remembered as a gentle, soft-spoken, hardworking, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and

WHEREAS, Logan Luallen was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Jessie Sterling, Cora Connour, Juanita Holmes, and Esther Holmes; and his brothers, Raymond, Firman, Sherman, Ira, Clarence, Harold, and William Luallen; and

WHEREAS, Logan Luallen is survived by his wife; his daughters, Donna (Jerry) Lee and Kathryn (Brian Hochgurtel) Luallen; his son, Chuck Luallen; his grandchildren, Gerald Matthew Lee, Wendy (Otto Baechli) Lee, Keeley Luallen, Wyatt Luallen, Brooke (JP) Giraldo, and Sarah (Flamur) Luallen; his great-grandchildren, Tessa Baechli Lee, Kai Lani, and Marlee Giraldo; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Logan "Chuck" Luallen and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Logan Luallen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
