SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Martin William Allen of New Windsor, who passed away on October 19, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Martin Allen was born to Fred William and Alice Pauline Stewart Allen in Galesburg on April 30, 1942; he graduated from Winola High School; he then proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, Martin Allen owned and operated the New Windsor Amoco Standard Station, serving the community as a mechanic; he also farmed in the surrounding area; and

WHEREAS, Martin Allen was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Max Allen; and

WHEREAS, Martin Allen is survived by his sisters, Sandra Hay and Sharon Otten; his sister-in-law, Judy Allen; and nine nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Martin William Allen and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Martin Allen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
