SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert Bate "Bob" Applegate of Milan,
4who passed away on October 19, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Applegate was born to Murray Bate and Alice
6Avery Applegate in Knoxville, Iowa on July 24, 1947; he
7graduated from Knoxville Senior High School and Iowa State
8University; he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Applegate retired as a civilian human
10resources officer from the Rock Island Arsenal; at the time of
11his passing, he was the current owner of The Book Rack in the
12Quad Cities; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Applegate was a former member of the Rock
14Island City Council; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bob Applegate was an Eagle Scout, a member of the
16Order of the Eagle, and a former trustee of Rock Island First
17United Methodist Church; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bob Applegate is survived by his wife, Claudia;
19his son, Alan (Nicole) Applegate; his daughter, Lara (Kevin)
20Koza; his grandchildren, Allison, Sydney, Gabriella, Paige,

1and Michael Robert; his brother, Arthur (Kathleen) Applegate;
2and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; therefore, be
3it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Robert Bate "Bob" Applegate and extend our sincere condolences
7to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Bob Applegate as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
