SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Lyle D. Courtney of Norris, who passed
4away on November 16, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney was born in Banner to Jesse and
6Lola (Woodcock) Courtney on April 12, 1924; he served in the
7United States Navy during World War II; he married Ruth Ellen
8Yarnell on November 18, 1951; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney farmed in Cuba for over 70 years;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney was a member of the Cuba American
12Legion and Sinnett Chapel United Methodist Church; he was a CB
13operator and enjoyed spending time with his group of friends;
14he also enjoyed attending the cattle sales at the Fairview
15sale barn; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney was preceded in death by his
17parents; one brother; and four sisters; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney is survived by his wife of 71
19years, Ruth; his daughters, Judy (Mike) Durrette and Connie
20Shigematsu; his grandchildren, Andrew (Leah) Bugos, Samantha

1(Marc) Bugos, and Laura Trone; his great-grandchildren, Ella,
2Tyler, Kayla, and Annalynn; and his step-great-grandchildren,
3Gabe and Payton; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Lyle D. Courtney and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Lyle Courtney as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
