SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Mary Alice Kramer, who passed away on
4December 26, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Kramer was born to Raymond and Helen
6(Gehmen) Strassburger in Decatur on December 29, 1942; she
7graduated from Champaign High School in 1960 and Mercy
8Hospital School of Nursing in 1963; she married Henry E.
9"Woody" Kramer on January 25, 1964, and they welcomed Woody's
10youngest sisters, Anicia Kramer and Cami (Kramer) Pisklak,
11into their family in 1976; she earned a Bachelor of Arts from
12Eastern Illinois University in 1990; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Kramer's nursing career spanned the
14course of 45 years, including working as a nurse at Mercy
15Hospital in Champaign and as an office nurse with Dr. Stanley
16Huffman in Mattoon; her career culminated serving as the
17school nurse for Charleston Community Schools, from which she
18retired in 2007; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Kramer was an active member of St.
20Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Charleston, where she
21served as the organist for the church choir for more than 40
22years; she was named a Woman of Distinction by the Springfield

1Illinois Diocesan Council of Catholic Women in June 2014; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Kramer loved music, sewing, and
3baking, especially at Christmas time and when her
4grandchildren visited; she and her family hosted numerous
5exchange students from around the world over the years; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Kramer was a devoted wife to her
7husband and a dedicated mother to her children and their
8various activities, including serving as a leader of her
9children's 4-H club, the Charleston Cloverettes, and attending
10hundreds of sporting and music events; she will be remembered
11for her generous, caring, and giving spirit; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Kramer was preceded in death by her
13husband, her parents, and her sisters, Elizabeth Engelbrecht
14and Irene Schlorff; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Kramer is survived by her children,
16Liane Foerder, Alice (Mike) Dutler, Kevin Kramer, Letha (Lisa
17Watkins) Kramer, Ellen (Bryan) Ericson, and Lauren (Ryan
18Anderson) Kramer; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Dustin) Gay,
19Becca Foerder, Lexi Foerder, Christian Dutler, Abby Dutler,
20Matthew Dutler, Livia Kramer, Henry Kramer, Griffin Kramer,
21Hannah Ericson, Owen Ericson, Charlotte Kramer-Watkins, and
22Isaac Kramer-Watkins; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Mary Alice Kramer and extend our sincere condolences to her
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Mary Alice Kramer as an expression
8of our deepest sympathy.
