 1        AN ACT in relation to civil procedure.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  Code  of Civil Procedure is amended by
 5    changing Section 8-402 as follows:

 6        (735 ILCS 5/8-402) (from Ch. 110, par. 8-402)
 7        Sec.  8-402.  Production  of  books  and  writings.   The
 8    circuit courts shall have power, in any action pending before
 9    them, upon motion, and good and sufficient cause  shown,  and
10    reasonable  notice  thereof given, to require the parties, or
11    either of  them,  to  produce  books  or  writings  in  their
12    possession  or power that which contain evidence pertinent to
13    the issue.
