 1        AN ACT concerning human services.


 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The  Department  of  Human  Services  Act is
 5    amended by adding Section 10-35 as follows:

 6        (20 ILCS 1305/10-35 new)
 7        Sec. 10-35.  Recreational programs; handicapped;  grants.
 8    The  Department  of Human Services, subject to appropriation,
 9    may make grants to special recreation  associations  for  the
10    operation  of  recreational  programs  for  the  handicapped,
11    including  both  physically  and  mentally  handicapped,  and
12    transportation  to and from those programs. The grants should
13    target unserved or underserved populations, such  as  persons
14    with  brain  injuries, persons who are medically fragile, and
15    adults who have acquired disabling conditions. The Department
16    must adopt rules to implement the grant program.

17        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
18    becoming law.
