 1        AN ACT concerning jury trials.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The Juvenile Court Act of 1987 is amended by
 5    adding Section 2-13.2 as follows:

 6        (705 ILCS 405/2-13.2 new)
 7        Sec.  2-13.2.  Jury  Trial.   In  any  proceeding  on   a
 8    petition  (1)  seeking  a  finding that a minor is neglected,
 9    abused, or dependent, or (2) seeking a finding that a  parent
10    is  unfit and that it is in the best interest of the child to
11    terminate parental rights, under this  Act  or  the  Adoption
12    Act, a parent may demand trial by jury.

13        Section  10.  The  Adoption  Act  is  amended  by  adding
14    Section 13.2 as follows:

15        (705 ILCS 405/13.2 new)

18    the  best interest of the child to terminate parental rights,
19    under this Act or the Juvenile Court Act of  1987,  a  parent
