 1        AN ACT concerning local government officers.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Public Officer Simultaneous Tenure Act is
 5    amended by changing Section 1 as follows:

 6        (50 ILCS 110/1) (from Ch. 102, par. 4.10)
 7        Sec. 1.  Legislative  findings;  purpose).   The  General
 8    Assembly  finds  and declares that questions raised regarding
 9    the legality of simultaneously holding the office  of  county
10    board  member and township supervisor are unwarranted, and in
11    counties of less than 100,000 population those such questions
12    regarding the legality of simultaneously holding  the  office
13    of  county board member and township trustee are unwarranted;
14    that the General  Assembly  viewed  the  office  of  township
15    supervisor,  and  in counties of less than 100,000 population
16    the office of township trustee,  and  the  office  of  county
17    board  member  as compatible; and that to settle the question
18    of legality and avoid confusion among the such  counties  and
19    townships  as  may be affected by such questions it is lawful
20    to hold the office of county board member simultaneously with
21    the office of township supervisor, and in  counties  of  less
22    than  100,000 population with the office of township trustee,
23    in accordance with this Act.
