 1        AN ACT concerning veterans.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The Disabled Veterans Housing Act is amended
 5    by changing Section 1 as follows:

 6        (330 ILCS 65/1) (from Ch. 126 1/2, par. 58)
 7        Sec. 1. Eligibility.  Any  veteran  of  the  military  or
 8    naval service of the United States who was a resident of this
 9    State  at  the  time he entered such service and who has been
10    approved  by  the  Administrator  of  Veterans'  Affairs  for
11    assistance under Chapter 21 of Title 38, United States  Code,
12    as  now  or  hereafter  amended, shall be entitled to receive
13    assistance under this Act for the purpose of acquiring within
14    this  State   or   without   this   State,   where   due   to
15    service-connected   disabilities   and  upon  the  advice  or
16    recommendation of a duly recognized physician of the Veterans
17    Administration in order to protect the health of the veteran,
18    such veteran cannot reside in this State, a suitable dwelling
19    unit  with  special  fixtures  or  movable  facilities   made
20    necessary    by    the    veteran's   permanent   and   total
21    service-connected disability.
