 1        AN ACT regarding schools.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding  Sections
 5    10-20.37 and 34-18.26 as follows:

 6        (105 ILCS 5/10-20.37 new)
 7        Sec. 10-20.37.  Awarding of school construction contract.
 8        (a)  In  this Section, "school construction" means school
 9    construction as defined in Section 22-23 of this Code.
10        (b)  A  school  board  must  use  a  competitive  bidding
11    process or RFQ/RFP process in awarding a school  construction
12    contract of greater than $100,000.

14        Sec. 34-18.26.  Awarding of school construction contract.
15        (a)  In  this Section, "school construction" means school
16    construction as defined in Section 22-23 of this Code.
17        (b)   The board must use a competitive bidding process or
18    RFQ/RFP process in awarding a school construction contract of
19    greater than $100,000.

20        Section 99. Effective date. This Act  takes  effect  upon
21    becoming law.
