 1        AN ACT concerning jury trials.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Juvenile Court Act of 1987 is amended  by
 5    adding Section 2-13.2 as follows:

 6        (705 ILCS 405/2-13.2 new)
 7        Sec.  2-13.2.  Jury  trial.  A parent may demand trial by
 8    jury in any proceeding on a petition (1)  seeking  a  finding
 9    that  a  minor  is  neglected,  abused,  or dependent, or (2)
10    seeking a finding that a parent is unfit and that  it  is  in
11    the  best interest of the child to terminate parental rights,
12    under this Act or the Adoption Act.

13        Section  10.  The  Adoption  Act  is  amended  by  adding
14    Section 13.2 as follows:

15        (750 ILCS 50/13.2 new)
16        Sec. 13.2.  Jury trial.  A parent  may  demand  trial  by
17    jury in any proceeding on a petition seeking a finding that a
18    parent  is  unfit  and that it is in the best interest of the
19    child to terminate parental rights, under  this  Act  or  the
20    Juvenile Court Act of 1987.
