SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

730 ILCS 5/3-2-2.05 new

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that the Department of Corrections may not let bids to private contractors for food services or dietary services performed by Department employees or persons committed to the Department. Effective July 1, 2004.

AN ACT concerning corrections.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by adding Section 3-2-2.05 as follows:

(730 ILCS 5/3-2-2.05 new)

Sec. 3-2-2.05. Food and dietary services; no private contractors. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code, the Department may not let bids to private contractors for food services or dietary services performed by Department employees or persons committed to the Department.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2004.
