Amends the School Code. Provides that a school board shall require that principals hold drug paraphernalia awareness and recognition training for teachers before the beginning of each school year.

AN ACT regarding education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections 10-20.39 and 34-18.30 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/10-20.39 new)

Sec. 10-20.39. Drug paraphernalia awareness training. A school board shall require that principals hold drug paraphernalia awareness and recognition training for teachers before the beginning of each school year.

Sec. 34-18.30. Drug paraphernalia awareness training. The board shall require that principals hold drug paraphernalia awareness and recognition training for teachers before the beginning of each school year.

Section 90. The State Mandates Act is amended by adding Section 8.28 as follows:

Sec. 8.28. Exempt mandate. Notwithstanding Sections 6 and 8 of this Act, no reimbursement by the State is required for the implementation of any mandate created by this amendatory Act of the 93rd General Assembly.
