 1        AN ACT concerning appropriations.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5. "An Act regarding appropriations", Public Act
 5    92-538, approved June 10, 2002 with certain items  vetoed  or
 6    reduced  and  with  certain  items restored June 11, 2002, is
 7    amended by changing Section 7.4  of  Article  48  and  adding
 8    Section 7.5 to Article 48 as follows:

 9        (P.A. 92-538, Art. 48, Sec. 7.4)
10        Sec.  7.4.  The  following  named  amounts,  or  so  much
11    thereof   as  may  be  necessary,  are  appropriated  to  the
12    Department of Public Health  for  the  objects  and  purposes
13    hereinafter named:
14                     OFFICE OF HEALTH PROTECTION
15    Payable from the General Revenue Fund:
16      For Grants for Free Distribution of
17       Medical Preparations.............             $  4,410,700
18      For Grants for Sexually Transmitted Disease
19       Medical Services to Individuals..                   11,000
20      For Grants to Metro Chicago Hospital
21       Council for support of the Illinois
22       Poison Control Center............                1,460,000
23      For Local Health Protection Grants
24       to Certified Local Health Departments
25       for Health Protection Programs including,
26       But Not Limited To, Infectious
27       Diseases, Food Sanitation,
28       Potable Water and Private Sewage  17,481,400    13,981,400
29        Total                           $23,363,100   $19,863,100

30    Payable from the Tobacco Settlement

 1     Recovery Fund:
 2       For a Grant for the University of Illinois
 3       for Sickle Cell Research.........                1,900,000
 4        Total                                          $1,900,000

 5        (P.A. 92-538, Art. 48, Sec. 7.5 new)
 6        Sec.  7.5.  In  addition to amounts that may be available
 7    for this purpose, the sum of $3,000,000, or so  much  thereof
 8    as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
 9    Fund   to  the  Department  of  Public  Health  for  expenses
10    associated with the West Nile Virus.

11        Section 99. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
