 1        AN ACT concerning vehicles.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The  State  Finance Act is amended by adding
 5    Section 5.595 as follows:

 6        (30 ILCS 105/5.595 new)
 7        Sec. 5.595.  The Ovarian Cancer Awareness Fund.

 8        Section 10.  The Illinois  Vehicle  Code  is  amended  by
 9    adding Section 3-663 as follows:

11        Sec. 3-663.  Ovarian Cancer Awareness license plates.
12        (a)  The  Secretary,  upon receipt of an application made
13    in the form prescribed by the Secretary,  may  issue  special
14    registration  plates  designated  as Ovarian Cancer Awareness
15    license plates. The special plates issued under this  Section
16    shall  be  affixed  only  to  passenger vehicles of the first
17    division and motor vehicles of the second  division  weighing
18    not  more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this Section
19    shall  expire   according   to   the   multi-year   procedure
20    established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code.
21        (b)  The  design and color of the plates is wholly within
22    the discretion of the Secretary. The Secretary may allow  the
23    plates  to  be  issued as vanity or personalized plates under
24    Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The Secretary  shall  prescribe
25    stickers  or  decals  as provided under Section 3-412 of this
26    Code.
27        (c)  An applicant for the special plate shall be  charged
28    a   $25   fee  for  original  issuance  in  addition  to  the
29    appropriate registration fee.  Of  this  fee,  $10  shall  be

 1    deposited  into  the  Ovarian  Cancer  Awareness Fund and $15
 2    shall be  deposited  into  the  Secretary  of  State  Special
 3    License  Plate  Fund,  to  be  used  by the Secretary to help
 4    defray the administrative processing costs.
 5        For each registration  renewal  period,  a  $25  fee,  in
 6    addition  to  the  appropriate  registration  fee,  shall  be
 7    charged. Of this fee, $23 shall be deposited into the Ovarian
 8    Cancer  Awareness  Fund  and  $2  shall be deposited into the
 9    Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund.
10        (d)  The Ovarian Cancer Awareness Fund is  created  as  a
11    special fund in the State treasury. All moneys in the Ovarian
12    Cancer Awareness Fund shall be paid, subject to appropriation
13    by  the  General  Assembly  and approval by the Secretary, as
14    grants to the National Ovarian  Cancer  Coalition,  Inc.  for
15    ovarian cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.

16        Section  99.  Effective  date. This Act takes effect upon
17    becoming law.
