 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives wish to congratulate Kathleen L. "Kay" Wojcik
 4    on her service to the people of the 45th House District; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Kay  Wojcik  was  elected  to  serve  as  State
 6    Representative  of  the 45th District in 1982; she has been a
 7    strong advocate for women and children  since  her  election;
 8    she  worked  with  Governor  Edgar   to  ensure that the best
 9    interests of children were considered in adoption cases;  she
10    crafted  legislation  to establish an Osteoporosis Prevention
11    and  Education  program,  insurance  coverage  for   in-vitro
12    fertilization,  and  to  change  the  24  hour  drive-through
13    delivery  policy, giving women 48 to 96 hours in the hospital
14    after giving birth; and

15        WHEREAS, She was appointed  to  serve  as  the  Assistant
16    Republican  Leader in 1991; she was appointed to serve on the
17    Executive Committee  of  the  National  Conference  of  State
18    Legislators   and  she  is  the  State  Chair  for  Women  in
19    Government, Washington, D.C.; and

20        WHEREAS, She has been recognized by several organizations
21    for her contributions to Illinois legislation;  she  received
22    the  first  ever  Legislative Service Award from the Illinois
23    chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics;  the  Illinois
24    Nurses  Association  and  the  Illinois  Dietetic Association
25    named her Legislator of the Year; the Illinois Small Business
26    Administration, Illinois Association of Homes for the  Aging,
27    the  Illinois  Hospital  Association,  and the Association of
28    Condominiums, Townhouses, and Homeowners have also recognized
29    her efforts; and

30        WHEREAS, She has also received honors from  the  Illinois
31    Chamber of Commerce, Legislative Education Network of DuPage,
32    Illinois    State    Medical   Society,   Illinois   Realtors

 1    Association, and the Illinois  Farm  Bureau;  the  Taxpayer's
 2    Federation  of Illinois handed her a superior rating, and her
 3    efforts on behalf  of  the  Illinois  Credit  Union  League's
 4    issues earned her the Perfect Voting Record; she is mentioned
 5    in  Marquis  Who's  Who  of  American Women, Who's Who in the
 6    Midwest, and Who's Who in America; and

 7        WHEREAS, She is dedicated to her community and her public
 8    service has been continuous for  over  33  years;  she  is  a
 9    licensed  real  estate  broker,  small  business woman, and a
10    former Schaumburg Township Clerk; and

11        WHEREAS, She was born and raised in the Chicago area  and
12    attended  William  Rainey  Harper  College  in  Palatine; she
13    resides in Schaumburg with her husband,  Norbert;  they  have
14    two children, both married, Norbert, Jr. and Noreen, and five
15    grandchildren,  Norbert III, Nicole Kathleen, Rochelle Marie,
16    Cait, and Tess; and

17        WHEREAS, After serving so admirably in the House, she was
18    appointed recently to fill a vacancy in the Illinois  Senate;
19    therefore, be it

20        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
21    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
22    we congratulate Kay Wojcik on a job well done and we wish her
23    continued success in the Illinois Senate; and be it further

24        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
25    presented to Kathleen L. "Kay" Wojcik as an expression of our
26    respect and esteem.
