HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives wish to
3 recognize the Round Lake Area Park District on the occasion of
4 its 30th anniversary this year along with its continued
5 expansion of teen and sports programs in an effort to promote
6 healthy lifestyles; and
 
7     WHEREAS, On March 30, 1974, the Round Lake Area Chamber of
8 Commerce passed a referendum creating the Round Lake Area Park
9 District to provide recreation options for the community and
10 job opportunities for local residents; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The Round Lake Area Park District began its
12 service to the community in 1975 by offering a variety of
13 programs including dance, drama, gymnastics, creative music,
14 basketball clinics, needlework, and volleyball; and
 
15     WHEREAS, The Round Lake Area Park District expanded over
16 the next thirty years to cater to residents interested in team
17 sports, swimming, and summer and winter activities alike; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The Park District now owns 39 parks, preserving
19 over 500 acres of open space for recreational activities and
20 enjoyment for area residents of all ages; and
 
21     WHEREAS, This year also marks significant progress for the
22 Round Lake Area Park District as the District celebrated the
23 ground breaking for a new sports center and the grand opening
24 of a renovated Teen Center on June 12, 2004; therefore, be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
27 congratulate the Round Lake Park District on thirty years of
28 community outreach in providing valuable recreation and
29 extracurricular services; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That we commend the Round Lake Park District on
2 its progress in continually expanding programs and services to
3 further benefit the health and well-being of area residents;
4 and be it further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 delivered to the Round Lake Area Park District as an expression
7 of our esteem and appreciation.
