HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Donald
4 "Red" Danewicz of Burnham on Tuesday, August 3, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Danewicz spent nearly his entire life in the
6 Burnham community; he attended Burnham Grade School before
7 graduating from Thornton Fractional North High School; he
8 earned a college degree from Indiana University; and
 
9     WHEREAS, For the past 11 years, Mr. Danewicz had served as
10 village president of Burnham; he had been a village trustee
11 since the 1950s until he was elected president in 1993; among
12 the issues that marked Mr. Danewicz's tenure as president was
13 his staunch and successful opposition to a proposed airport on
14 the east side of the village; he also converted the old Village
15 Hall into a senior citizens center and signed off on the
16 expansion of the police department; he was known to be frugal
17 with the budget, constantly fighting to keep taxes low; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He was retired from Balmoral Race Track in Crete,
19 where he was an accountant; he was a member of Amvets Post #43
20 in Burnham and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of Donald "Red" Danewicz has been
22 deeply felt by many, especially his brother John Danewicz; his
23 wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death; therefore, be it
 
24     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
26 mourn the passing of Donald "Red" Danewicz, and we extend our
27 deepest sympathy to his family, friends, community, and all who
28 knew and loved him; and be it further
 
29     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

2 expression of our sincere condolences.
