HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives offer our sincere appreciation to Jill Garrett for her tenure as Chairperson of the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Jill worked with the Council on Developmental Disabilities for approximately 9 years prior to being appointed Chairperson in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Her tireless efforts have lead to countless improvements within the Council and in the developmental disability community; and

WHEREAS, Jill's guidance lead to the restructuring of committees within the Council so that committees would be used more effectively and would be better able to function; and

WHEREAS, Under Jill's leadership the Council released the "Gettings Report" that examined Illinois' services and care for the developmentally disabled; and

WHEREAS, Jill has proudly championed the creation and implementation of the Illinois Life Span which is the Statewide information and advocacy coordination system for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families; and

WHEREAS, Individuals can now receive all the information needed about services for the disabled by calling one phone number for Illinois Life Span; and

WHEREAS, Jill's commitment to the disabled community is so strong that she will continue to serve on several committees with the Council; and

WHEREAS, She skillfully organized a seamless transition for the new leadership by working with the new Chairperson and the Council to insure that there would be no disruption in carrying out the mission of organization; and

WHEREAS, Jill's passion for helping those with disabilities has led to the development of landmark reforms aimed at helping those with disabilities live full and happy lives; and

WHEREAS, The developmental disability community, Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities, and the entire State sincerely appreciate the countless hours she has devoted to reforming the services and care provided to the disabled; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we do hereby offer our appreciation to Jill Garrett; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jill Garrett and her family.
