HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives recognize the courageous actions of Bobbie Bieniek; and

WHEREAS, Bobbie Bieniek is a Glendale Heights resident and mother of three children; and

WHEREAS, Bobbie is the store manager of the Walgreens located on Lake Street and Addison Road in Addison, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, On October 20, 2004, Bobbie's quick thinking prevented serious injury when the Walgreens exploded; and

WHEREAS, She evacuated the store and called 911 when she detected a strong order of gas; and

WHEREAS, Twenty customers and employees were evacuated just before the blast; and

WHEREAS, Her concern for customer and employee safety protected the lives of everyone in Walgreens that day; and

WHEREAS, Three firemen were injured as a result of the explosion; and

WHEREAS, Authorities had to evacuate the surrounding area to protect local residents; and

WHEREAS, Bobbie's heroic actions helped to protect the patrons and citizens of Addison; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the bravery of Bobbie Bieniek; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bobbie Bieniek for her courageous actions.
