HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate John Magera of Crainville
4 on his performance as a member of the 2004 U.S. Olympic men's
5 archery team; and
 
6     WHEREAS, John Magera picked up an Olympic Recurve bow for
7 the first time on March 1, 2003 and, fifteen months later, he
8 finished third at the U.S. Archery Olympic Team Trials to a
9 pair of U.S. legends such as Vic Wunderle (2000 silver and
10 bronze medalist) and three-time Olympian Butch Johnson,
11 earning a spot on the U.S. Olympic men's archery team that
12 competed at the U.S. Olympics in August 2004; and
 
13     WHEREAS, The U.S. team competed in the Olympic semi-final
14 round and lost a heartbreaking 242-243 match to Chinese Taipei
15 and made it all the way to the bronze medal game competing
16 brilliantly for our country; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Fans from around the area were happy with the
18 team's results and were proud of the way they competed; John
19 Megera performed exemplary in his first Olympic games, and with
20 his experiences, will be a favorite to make the next U.S. team;
21 and
 
22     WHEREAS, While there will not be another Olympics for the
23 next four years, the World Championships will be held next
24 year, and the Pan Am Games will be coming up; therefore, be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
27 congratulate John Magera on his performance as a member of the
28 2004 U.S. Olympic men's archery team, we applaud his
29 achievement as an Olympian, we thank him for his superb
30 representation of the people of the State of Illinois on a

1 world stage and wish him well in his future competitions; and
2 be it further
 
3     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to John Magera as a expression of our admiration and
5 acknowledgement of his achievements and talent.
