HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Mike
4 Bollero of Benton at the age of 84 on September 12, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born October 15, 1919 in Johnston City, the
6 son of Frank and Lena (Marchiando) Bollero; he married Eleanor
7 Stowers of Benton on December 22, 1945, and she preceded him in
8 death on July 3, 1992; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He graduated from Herrin High School in 1938; he
10 was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from February 3, 1942 to
11 October 20, 1945 in the 622 Ordinance of the European Theatre
12 during World War II, and received a Meritorious Service Award
13 and Bronze Star for his efforts, with a rank of Staff Sergeant;
14 he was awarded an ETO Campaign Ribbon with three campaign stars
15 and a Good Conduct Medal, as well as the Liberty Medal by
16 French President Rene Garrec for participation in the Normandy
17 Campaign; he also served with a small group on the "Red Ball
18 Express," a route for delivering supplies to the troops
19 following the D-Day invasion; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Mr. Bollero was co-owner of Benton Auto Supply
21 until his retirement in 1981; he was known around Benton as a
22 community activist, helping to express the needs and concerns
23 of the public during numerous municipal and school board
24 gatherings; and
 
25     WHEREAS, The passing of Mike Bollero will be felt by all
26 who knew and loved him, especially his son, Bruce and wife
27 Christy Bollero; his daughter, Pamela; his grandchildren,
28 Anthony and wife Angie Bollero, Stephanie Bollero, Christopher
29 Bollero, and Michelle and husband Jason Sears; his
30 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Austin Sears; his brothers,
31 John Bollero, and Franklin and wife Betty Bollero; along with

1 several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4 mourn the passing of Mike Bollero and extend our sincerest
5 condolences to his family, friends and community; and be it
6 further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to the family of Mike Bollero as an expression of our
9 deepest sympathy.
