 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, It has come to  our  attention  that  Ronald  J.
 3    Keller  recently  celebrated 50 years of affiliation with the
 4    Naperville Municipal Band; he will be  honored  by  the  band
 5    with a concert entitled "Ron's 50th" on June 26, 2003; and

 6        WHEREAS,   Dr.   Keller  has  been  affiliated  with  the
 7    Naperville Municipal Band since his first solo with the group
 8    in 1951, when he was  a  student  in  the  Naperville  public
 9    schools;  he has served as musical director of the band since
10    1966; and

11        WHEREAS, Dr. Keller received a Bachelor of Science degree
12    in Education,  majoring  in  music,  from  Northern  Illinois
13    University  in June of 1961; he completed his Master of Music
14    Education degree at Vandercook College of Music  in  July  of
15    1967;  he  received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Summit
16    University of Louisiana in February of 1999; and

17        WHEREAS, Dr. Keller was the coordinator of music for  the
18    Naperville  school  district  for  18  years  in  addition to
19    carrying a full teaching load; he retired on June  10,  1993;
20    in 1978 and 1979, he served as visiting professor of music at
21    North Central College, directing the concert band and related
22    ensembles;  he directed the concert band again for the spring
23    semester of 2000; he has taught  workshops,  clinics,  and  a
24    class at Vandercook College and Aurora College; and

25        WHEREAS,  Dr.  Keller has received numerous awards and is
26    affiliated with  numerous  professional,  civic,  and  social
27    organizations; under his leadership, the Naperville Municipal
28    Band received the prestigious Sudler Silver Scroll Award from
29    the  John  Philip  Sousa  Foundation; he was a speaker at the
30    Music Educators National Conference  National  Convention  in
31    1981 and 1988; and

 1        WHEREAS, Dr. Keller is married with three grown children,
 2    two  step-children,  three grandsons, and two granddaughters;
 3    he enjoys  gardening,  fishing,  sausage  making,  and  model
 4    trains; therefore, be it

 5        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 6    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
 7    we  congratulate Dr. Ronald J. Keller on his faithful service
 8    of over 50 years to the Naperville Municipal Band; and be  it
 9    further

10        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
11    presented to Dr. Keller as a token of our respect and  esteem
12    and with our best wishes for his continued success.
