 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  congratulate  Marjorie  A.M.  Benson  on her
 4    retirement from the governing board of the  Hyde  Park  Youth
 5    Symphony; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Marjorie  A.M.  Benson has been affiliated with
 7    the Hyde Park Youth Symphony since 1987 as a  member  of  the
 8    advisory  and  governing  board  and has brought her decisive
 9    leadership and optimism to its deliberations; and

10        WHEREAS, Ms. Benson has  generously  shared  her  musical
11    talents  by  accompanying  the  musicians of the orchestra in
12    concerts and at the annual spring benefit; and

13        WHEREAS, Ms. Benson has served as general manager of  the
14    orchestra  since 1996 and in that capacity has encouraged and
15    appreciated the best efforts of the orchestral staff; she has
16    been gracious in involving parents in  the  programs  of  the
17    Symphony and has enjoyed the uniqueness of each student; and

18        WHEREAS,  Ms.  Benson has been a strong link to the music
19    teachers of the community and  has  initiated  a  program  of
20    summer chamber music workshops in Hyde Park; and

21        WHEREAS,  Ms.  Benson  volunteers  her  talents  to other
22    musical organizations as  well,  including  the  Gilbert  and
23    Sullivan   Opera   Company   of   Chicago  and  the  Sherwood
24    Conservatory of Music; and

25        WHEREAS, Marjorie Benson has served as an inspiration  to
26    all who have worked with and known her; therefore, be it

27        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
28    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
29    we  honor  Marjorie  A.M.  Benson  for  all her hard work and
30    dedication as she retires from the  governing  board  of  the

 1    Hyde Park Youth Symphony and recognize the great contribution
 2    she  has made to the musical life of the young people of this
 3    State; and be it further

 4        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 5    presented  to Marjorie A.M. Benson and to the Hyde Park Youth
 6    Symphony as an expression of our respect and esteem.
