 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the State of Illinois wish to congratulate Ronald E. James of
 4    Decatur  on  the  occasion  of his retirement on May 31, 2003
 5    after 37 years of service  to  National  City  Bank  and  its
 6    predecessors; and

 7        WHEREAS,  For  the last three years, Mr. James has served
 8    as community bank president for  Decatur  and  Macon  County;
 9    previously,  he  was  vice  president, commercial lending for
10    National  City;  he  is   known   for   developing   customer
11    relationships  and  bringing the value of hometown service to
12    the forefront of daily banking; and

13        WHEREAS, A number of  accomplishments  mark  Mr.  James's
14    career,  including  the coordination of financing to move the
15    Heritage Behavioral Health Center into downtown  Decatur  and
16    the  assistance  with  the  Decatur  Sports Foundation in the
17    building of the Borg-Warner Sports Complex; on May  2,  2001,
18    Governor  George  Ryan  proclaimed that date "Ronald E. James
19    Day" in Illinois, and Decatur  Mayor  Terry  Howley  followed
20    suit with "Ron James Day" in Decatur; and

21        WHEREAS,  Mr.  James is a native and lifetime resident of
22    Decatur; he received  his  bachelor's  degree  from  Millikin
23    University;  he  completed  the  certification program of the
24    Graduate  School  of  Banking,  University  of  Virginia,  in
25    Charlottesville, Virginia; and

26        WHEREAS, Mr. James is extensively involved  in  community
27    activities  including  serving  as  board  president  of  the
28    Heritage  Behavioral  Health  Center, Junior Achievement, and
29    the Decatur AMBUCS; he has served as a board  member  of  the
30    Decatur     Sports     Foundation,     treasurer    of    the
31    Warrensburg-Latham Educational Foundation, a director of  the
32    Prairieland  Service  Coordination, and is currently a member

 1    of the Decatur Metro Chamber of Commerce; and

 2        WHEREAS, Mr. James and his wife of 39 years, Eileen, have
 3    two daughters, Melinda Reuter and Cynthia  James;  therefore,
 4    be it

 5        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 6    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
 7    we  offer our heartiest congratulations to Ronald E. James on
 8    the occasion of his retirement after 37 years of  service  at
 9    National City Bank and its predecessors; and be it further

10        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
11    presented to Ronald E. James as an expression of our  respect
12    and esteem and with warmest wishes for a relaxing retirement.
