 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The  institution  of  marriage  is  one  of  the
 3    cornerstones  upon which our society is built, and a marriage
 4    that has achieved a notable longevity is truly  a  model  for
 5    the people of the State of Illinois; and

 6        WHEREAS,  It  has  come  to  our  attention that John and
 7    Glenda Adams of West Frankfort, Illinois, will celebrate  the
 8    fiftieth anniversary of their marriage on June 6, 2003; and

 9        WHEREAS,  John  Robert  Adams  and  Glenda  Lee Cole were
10    united in holy  matrimony  on  June  6,  1953  in  Riverside,
11    California; and

12        WHEREAS,  They  are  the  loving  parents  of Kathryn Lee
13    Downing, Susan Marie Blakely, Karen  Ann  Adams,  and  Sandra
14    Lynn  Hughes;  and  the  grandparents  of Jennifer Lee Adams,
15    Stephanie Lynn Putz, John Rodney Putz, Rachel Marie  Blakely,
16    Joshua Stiles Blakely, Sarah Elizabeth Blakely, Avery Nichole
17    Hughes, and Adam Cole Hughes; and

18        WHEREAS,  John  and  Glenda  Adams  have been involved in
19    several civic organizations, including the  Lions  Club,  the
20    Rotary  Club, Sororities, Franklin Williamson Human Services,
21    the Southern Illinois Healthcare Board, and they  are  active
22    within their Church; they also helped organized "Breakfast in
23    the  Park",  a  community-wide  Saturday breakfast program to
24    help raise money for a pool project in West Frankfort; and

25        WHEREAS, The respect for  marriage  reaches  one  of  its
26    highest  plateaus when a couple such as John and Glenda Adams
27    celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and

28        WHEREAS, John and Glenda Adams stand as examples  of  the
29    best  of  our  society,  and  their love and devotion to each
30    other and to their family and friends serve as a reminder  to
31    all   that  hard  work,  dedication,  and  love  can  make  a

 1    difference in today's world; therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 3    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 4    we congratulate John and Glenda  Adams  on  the  occasion  of
 5    their  fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
 6    achieving a long and happy marriage,  blessed  with  children
 7    and  grandchildren  and rich in friendships; and that we wish
 8    them happiness and good health  in  the  future;  and  be  it
 9    further

10        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
11    presented to John and Glenda Adams as an  expression  of  our
12    respect and esteem.
