 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  House  of  Representatives
 3    would like to congratulate The Farmers Bank of Liberty on the
 4    occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding; and

 5        WHEREAS, Following a meeting held on June 23, 1903 in the
 6    Masonic Hall in Liberty where the community's need for a bank
 7    was   discussed,  The  Farmers  State  Bank  of  Liberty  was
 8    established; on July 5, 1904,  The  Farmers  State  Bank  was
 9    technically closed, the charter was surrendered to the State,
10    and  the  depositors  were  paid  in full; that same day, the
11    directors  and  officers  established  a  private   bank,   a
12    "co-partnership"  called  The  Farmers Bank of Liberty, which
13    resumed operations without any interruptions  in  service  to
14    the community; and

15        WHEREAS,  The  Board  of Directors authorized plans for a
16    new bank building in  1913;  in  1916,  the  bank  officially
17    opened  the  Beverly  Branch  Bank of Liberty; throughout the
18    years, through its loan program, the  bank  assisted  in  the
19    opening of several businesses and the building of State Route
20    104  and a four-year high school; the bank expanded to form a
21    branch facility in Barry  in  1995;  the  Payson  Branch  was
22    opened in 1999; and

23        WHEREAS,   In   1905,  just  2  years  after  the  bank's
24    formation, assets totaled $65,067; in June  of  2003,  assets
25    totaled   $44,234,667;   through  prosperity  and  adversity,
26    through multiple wars, recessions, and the Great  Depression,
27    through prosperous farm yields and prices and the agriculture
28    crisis  of  the  1980s, The Farmers Bank of Liberty has stood
29    and still stands as a monument of responsible helpfulness  to
30    the  citizens  of  Liberty  and  the  surrounding  territory;
31    therefore, be it

32        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE

 1    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
 2    we  congratulate  The Farmers Bank of Liberty on the occasion
 3    of its 100th anniversary; and we thank it for  its  continued
 4    support of the community; and be it further

 5        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 6    presented to The Farmers Bank of Liberty as a  token  of  our
 7    respect  and  esteem  and  with best wishes for its continued
 8    success.
