HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Katie Lundy, an esteemed resident of Belleville
3 and a student at Central Junior High School, has achieved
4 national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by
5 receiving a 2004 Prudential Spirit of the Community Award; and
 
6     WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential
7 Financial in partnership with the National Association of
8 Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across
9 America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to
10 serving their communities; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Ms. Lundy earned this award by giving generously
12 of her time and energy to raise more than $40,000 over the past
13 three years through charity golf tournaments for the
14 Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Children's Miracle Network, and
15 local hospitals; she embarked on her fund-raising after
16 undergoing brain surgery and seeing other kids in the hospital
17 whom she wanted to help; therefore, be it
 
18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 congratulate and honor Katie Lundy as a recipient of a
21 Prudential Spirit of Community Award, and we recognize her
22 outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and
23 community spirit; and be it further
 
24     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to Katie Lundy as an expression of our respect and
26 esteem and with best wishes for her continued success and
27 happiness.
