HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to recognize the Academy of the Sacred
4 Heart for Girls and Hardey Preparatory for Boys in Chicago on
5 the occasion of the dedication of a new classroom addition to
6 their school; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Sacred Heart Schools are members of the Network of
8 Sacred Heart Schools which includes 21 schools across the
9 United States; the Schools maintain an affiliation with nearly
10 150 Sacred Heart schools in 32 countries worldwide; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The Sacred Heart Schools were founded in 1876,
12 just five years after the great Chicago fire, by Mother
13 Elizabeth Tucker and three other Religious of the Sacred Heart;
14 today, the Schools enroll 500 students in Kindergarten through
15 8th grade in single-sex co-institutional elementary schools;
16 when the expansion project is complete, the Schools will be
17 able to accommodate 600 students still contained in small class
18 sizes of 16-18 students; and
 
19     WHEREAS, The new 33,000 square foot addition includes a new
20 library/media center, middle school and kindergarten
21 classrooms, science labs, a computer lab, a large multi-purpose
22 room, and a roof-top playground; and
 
23     WHEREAS, On May 1, 2004, the new building will be blessed
24 with tours and a reception; therefore, be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
27 congratulate the Academy of the Sacred Heart for Girls and
28 Hardey Preparatory for Boys on their recent addition to their
29 school and salute all those involved in this important effort;
30 and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to Sr. Susan Maxwell, the director of the schools, in
3 recognition of the excellent quality of education provided by
4 these schools.
