HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Youko Amai Ellison on April 5, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Youko Amai Ellison was born in Kitatoshima County, Tokyo, on January 5, 1929; she was the first of two children born to Kousaku and Sei Amai; and

WHEREAS, She completed her formal education at Toa Girls High School in Namamugi-Cho Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama City in March of 1945; while in Japan, she worked for several companies as a clerk: Kanto Electric Co., Ltd. of Kaminamiki-Cho, Kawasaki City and, thereafter, at Yokohama Engineer Depot of Kanagawa Ward, Yokohama City; and

WHEREAS, On April 12, 1954, Youko Amai was united in holy matrimony to Warren C. Ellison; on May 12, 1958, their union was made complete with the birth of their precious son, Warren S. Ellison; they enjoyed a special partnership for forty-nine years; and

WHEREAS, As a result of her husband's military career, Mrs. Ellison traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad; she lovingly accompanied him, eagerly assisting him as devoted helpmate; during these years, their marriage grew stronger and more committed; Mr. Ellison retired after serving over thirty years in the military and the family relocated to Chicago; and

WHEREAS, After returning to Chicago, Mrs. Ellison joined Mossner Printing Company; she worked as a bookkeeper and was a dedicated employee for more than twenty years until she retired; and

WHEREAS, She loved evidences of love and beauty; she expressed that love by showing affection for her family, both in the United States and in Japan; in addition, she produced many original hand-painted works of art that hang in the Ellison home; she also enjoyed her extensive collection of priceless Geisha dolls; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Youko Amai Ellison will be deeply felt by many, especially her husband, Warren C. Ellison; her loving son, Warren S. Ellison (Miisha); her brother, Akira Amai; her grandson, Warren J. Ellison (his mother, Angela Ellison); her granddaughter, Sydney Vasquez; and host of family and friends in Japan and the United States; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Youko Amai Ellison along with all who knew and loved her and extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Youko Amai Ellison as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
