 1        AN ACT concerning education.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  School  Code  is  amended  by changing
 5    Section 27-24.6 as follows:

 6        (105 ILCS 5/27-24.6) (from Ch. 122, par. 27-24.6)
 7        Sec. 27-24.6.  Attendance records. The school board shall
 8    require the teachers of drivers  education  courses  to  keep
 9    daily  attendance  records for pupils, excluding residents of
10    the district over age 55, attending such courses in the  same
11    manner as is prescribed in Section 24-18 of this Act and such
12    records  shall  be  used  to  prepare and certify claims made
13    under the Driver  Education  Act.  Claims  for  reimbursement
14    shall  be  made under oath or affirmation of the president or
15    acting president of the school board for the district and the
16    chief school administrator for the district employed  by  the
17    school   board   or  authorized  driver  education  personnel
18    employed by the school board.
19        Whoever submits a false claim under the Driver  Education
20    Act or makes a false record upon which a claim is based shall
21    be fined in an amount equal to the sum falsely claimed.

23        Section  99.   Effective  date.  This Act takes effect on
24    July 1, 2003.
