 1        AN ACT in relation to pensions.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The  Illinois  Pension  Code  is  amended  by
 5    changing Section 12-109 as follows:

 6        (40 ILCS 5/12-109) (from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 12-109)
 7        Sec.  12-109.   Service.  "Service" means : employment by
 8    an employer in a position covered by this Article,  including
 9    (a)  actual employment in pay status, (b) periods of approved
10    leaves of absence for which contributions  are  made  by  the
11    employee, (c) periods of military service for which credit is
12    granted,  and  (d) periods for which contribution credits are
13    granted during disability.
