 1        AN ACT concerning taxes.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Illinois Municipal  Code  is  amended  by
 5    changing Section 8-3-5 as follows:

 6        (65 ILCS 5/8-3-5) (from Ch. 24, par. 8-3-5)
 7        Sec.   8-3-5.  Uniformity.    All   taxes   levied  by  a
 8    municipality,   except   special   assessments   for    local
 9    improvements,  shall be uniform upon all taxable property and
10    persons  within  the  limits  of  the  municipality,  and  no
11    property shall be exempt therefrom other than  such  property
12    as  may  be  exempt  from taxation under the constitution and
13    general laws of the State.
