SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

55 ILCS 5/5-1060.5 new
65 ILCS 5/11-57-2 new

Amends the Counties Code and the Illinois Municipal Code. Authorizes any county or municipality to enter into agreements with the Federal Railroad Administration. Provides that the agreements may stipulate that any safety features required by the Federal Railroad Administration may be completed as part of the county's or municipality's normal road maintenance program. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning railroad safety.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section 5-1060.5 as follows:

(55 ILCS 5/5-1060.5 new)

Sec. 5-1060.5. Federal Railroad Administration agreements. Any county may enter into an agreement with the Federal Railroad Administration. The agreement may stipulate that any safety features required by the Federal Railroad Administration may be completed as part of the county's normal road maintenance program.

Section 10. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding Section 11-57-2 as follows:

Sec. 11-57-2. Federal Railroad Administration agreements. Any municipality may enter into an agreement with the Federal Railroad Administration. The agreement may stipulate that any safety features required by the Federal Railroad Administration may be completed as part of the municipality's normal road maintenance program.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
