105 ILCS 230/5-8 new

Amends the School Construction Law. Provides that charter schools are eligible for school construction project grants and debt service grants. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning schools.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Construction Law is amended by adding Section 5-8 as follows:

(105 ILCS 230/5-8 new)

Sec. 5-8. Eligibility of charter schools. Charter schools established under Article 27A of the School Code are eligible for school construction project grants and debt service grants under this Law in the same manner as school districts are, except that the grant index shall be calculated in a manner determined by the Capital Development Board and minimum enrollment requirements shall be determined by the State Board of Education.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
