 1        AN ACT concerning sheriffs.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Counties  Code  is  amended  by  changing
 5    Section 3-6001 as follows:

 6        (55 ILCS 5/3-6001) (from Ch. 34, par. 3-6001)
 7        Sec.   3-6001.  Commission.   Every   sheriff   shall  be
 8    commissioned by the Governor; but no commission  shall  issue
 9    except upon the certificate of the county clerk of the proper
10    county,  of  the  due  election  or  appointment  of the such
11    sheriff, and that he or she has filed his  or  her  bond  and
12    taken the oath of office, as hereinafter provided.
